Being a blogger I try different methods to generate great amount of traffic into my blog. I make use of social networking sites, blogging communities and various other platforms.
Recently , I gave a shot to new social media platforms like Stumbleupon , Reddit , Tribrr etc and I was literally amazed with the significant and rapid results I got. All worked well but Reddit gave me insane traffic and that too in a fraction of seconds. Reddit generated big loads of traffic in minutes if not in seconds when compared to Stumbleupon and other social networks I worked on.So, I started trying some self made strategies with Reddit to get a better outcome and luckily most of the strategies I used worked great though sadly some failed miserably.
When I shared my results with others, I found that many are still not aware about this traffic generation platform. Moreover, many doesn't know how to use this platform in the right way without getting banned.
So, today I'm going to share my experience with Reddit and how I was able to generate massive traffic from reddit within days. I guarantee this article would definitely help you drive huge traffic from reddit.
Reddit in a Nutshell
Reddit is an amazing social sharing, news and entertainment platform that was found by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian in 2005.
Reddit allows its community members to submit contents such as link posts or text posts in different Subreddits. Rankings on Reddit contents are determined by the combination of up-votes and down-votes done by the Redditors ( Reddit Users ). Reddit also allows their registered users an option to comment on the content submitted.
Reddit’s Traffic Statistics
Effectively, in 2013, Reddit saw a 51% increase in page views and an 83% increase in unique year-over-year. That's huge, really huge. Right ?

Get Started
1. Sign up at Reddit
Signing up at Reddit is as easy as relishing a cake. But, for those who are totally new to Reddit , check the image below. Make sure that you verify your email after you sign up.2. Submit links or text posts
As you have created an account on Reddit, you can now submit links or text posts in any Subreddit ( Reddit Category) of your choice but make sure that you submit in the right subreddit.Always make sure that your content matches with the Subreddit. Don’t ever think about posting 'Money making tips' in 'Writing' Subreddit which doesn't make sense. Reddit is quite strict and has moderators for each subreddit to keep an eye on spamming.
Tips on choosing the right Subreddit
# Make sure you choose a Subreddit with huge subscribers.
# Just go through the Subreddit activity and analyze whether
the Subreddit is active enough.
P.S Make sure that you read the subreddit rules and don’t violate them.
Most Popular Subreddits
1. Discussion -
2. Entertainment Subreddits -
3. Subreddits for Living Better -
4. Subreddit for Bloggers -
5. Technology Subreddits -
3. Build Karma
Guessing what Karma is ? Once you start submitting content and surf around Reddit you’ll definitely get familiar with the word ‘Karma’. Anyway, Reddit Karma is an accumulation of "goodwill" you receive when users up-vote your posts or comments.
The more karma you have, the more the other Redditors will respect you, communicate with you and pay attention to your posts.
5 Can’t fail Smart Techniques to build Karma in Reddit
Technique 1 :
Find new trending articles and post them to the desired subreddit to create a hype.
Technique 2 :
Find funny or interesting pictures or trolls from Facebook , Google , Pinterest or anywhere else.Post these images to the subreddit Pics or Funny.Make sure that you give an interesting title.
Technique 3 :
Find pictures of some beautiful unfamiliar places and post those pictures on Subreddit 'Pics' with the title " Would you like to live here? "Technique 4 [ Bonus ! ]
Time for some fun stuff. This is one among the best techniques to build your karma. I found this trick on zdnet.comThis technique would help you find Redditors who has been on Reddit for a year or more and re-post the posts they posted long time back.
Below is the Google query that helps us find Redditors who has been on Reddit for a year or more.Click it and view the Redditors on Google
site:reddit.com/user/ "redditor for 1 year" | "redditor for * years" +"link karma" -inurl:comments|submitted|liked|disliked|hidden|sort
The above query asks Google : "Google , I want to see Reddit users who have been on the site for a year or more and all I want to see is their primary user page".
So, now Google has provided you with a big list of long time Reddit users. Now, go to their profile and find old posts they submitted which is happy with lots of up-votes. But, once you go to their account you might see the latest content and links they've submitted. So, make use of the 'sort by' function and change the option to 'top' from 'new' and make sure that the 'links from' section is set to 'All time' to view the oldest reddits made by the user.
Now, find the best among them and re-post it yourself. For images , you can re-upload the image and submit it with an interesting headline. But, when it comes to link you cannot re-post the same link in the same subreddit. The only way is to re-post it to another closely related sub-reddit.
How to generate traffic from Reddit ?
Before moving forward I warn you , One wrong marketing step can get you dumped forever. Reddit is quite strict comparing other social media sites. They have strict policies and moderators for each subreddit. If you dare to play any illegal plays then don't wait to get banned, simply delete your account. So, Let's learn how to generate traffic from Reddit.
1. Traffic lies in the title and image
The Reddit is over crowded and so you need an eye catching title and image to stand out of the big noise. Presenting your article with a catchy title and attractive photo is another way to attract users which will in turn generate great traffic to your site or blog. The more interesting the title, the more clicks you’ll get.
2. Get the audience know you
Engaging in conversation and voting can make you active on Reddit . Once you start providing useful answers and suggestions people would start recognizing you in the next move you make. You would also get up-votes for the fabulous comments you give.
3. Timing is Key
It is very important to time your social media posts to take advantage of the peak time. Submitting your content in the right time would help you reach out a wider section of people thus making your content viral like never before. Timing your Reddit content would help you get more votes and easily noticed. You need to get more up-votes to make your content reach the front page.
Back in 2012 , Neil Patel had explained about 'When to Submit ' in the form of charts. The more up-votes you get in less time makes it easier to reach the front page of Reddit. So timing is a very important key to Reddit success.A quick glance at Neil Patel's 'Reddit Guide to Massive Traffic ' and Sherice Jacob's ' The Marketer’s Guide to Reddit' will surely a reliable source. I strongly recommend you to go through it.
4. Add Value
Providing great suggestions or tips in the form of text post can really take the hearts of the Reddit users. The best thing here is that you can interlink all the related stuff with your blog posts and eventually you would get more subscribers for your blog.
5. Comment and Link your post
Quite days before a guy posted a text post on ‘How do I increase traffic on my blog‘ . So , I provided him with all the traffic generation techniques I used for my blog and linked the some of my resources too. A few minutes later, I got a reply saying ‘ You are awesome and I just loved your blog. I've subscribed to it and I’m looking forward to read all your articles’.
Tada ! How simple was that ?
Get Traffic From Reddit Comments |
So, you see that. Wasn't that a cool technique to drive traffic from Reddit to your blog ? You can even link your blog post if users ask anything related to it. But, as I said earlier Reddit hates spam and spammers .So make sure you don't spam anywhere around Reddit or even in the Internet. All you want is true traffic .
