Everything about the upcoming Google Nexus 6 - Specs , Release Date , Features

Concept
Google Nexus is a line of mobile devices that run the Android operating system and the next big thing to come from Google in the smartphone sphere would be the Google Nexus 6.
The Google Nexus 6 is not set to be released until some point in the year 2014. Even the release date of Nexus 6 is a rumor with some saying it will be in June and others saying it will be November. What you are about to read is a collection and accumulation of a spider crawl trying to find the most recent and non-contradictory news that has been put into categories starting with “possible” for rumors that are probably true, to “probably not true” which is pretty self explanatory.

Possible

Nexus 6 release date

Some say it will be released in June during the developer’s conference in San Francisco. The Google VP On the other hand said that no new Nexus is due in the first half of the year 2014, which suggests they may wait until November before the Christmas shopping period starts.

Nexus 6 Specifications

They may have the 64-bit Snapdragon chipset, which is only really possible if they release nearer November because it is not really in commercial production as far as we know.

It is going to have an Octa-core MediaTek processor. The fact that it is going to have eight cores is not certain; it is after all a budget model, which would suggest four cores. The type of processor it is going to have is surly not set at this point.
It is going to have a fingerprint scanner, which quite possible as it moves with the times. The idea of it being a water resistant and dust resistant device too is also quite plausible.

Nexus 6 Display, Camera and Battery

It is going to have a 1440 x 2560 resolution at 534ppi. This sounds very possible with the only deviation possibility being if they improve this in some way before it is released. It is also going to have an 5.5-inch QHD display.
The camera will be able to capture 4K video and have optical image stabilization. This is possible because other devices are able to do such things. The only thing that stop this happening is the fact that Google are said to want to keep the cost of the Google Nexus 6 quite low.
Many people say it will have a 3000 mAh battery, which could just be a sensible-guess estimate; still people appear to be reading it and then copying it onto their articles (a little like this one has).

Implausible Nexus 6 Features

nexus 6 release dateThe Google Nexus 6 will use the Android 4.5 Lollypop. This may be true, but one gets the feeling that the KitKat will have a longer run than it has had already to the point where newer devices stick with it.
They are only going to announce the Google Nexus 6 once the Nexus 5 has ran for a year so they can see how well it fared. This is implausible because Google is moved by market forces and not by a calendar year.

There is a rumor that the device will be built by LG, which is not really the implausible bit. The implausible bit is that they say it will be modeled on the LG G3, which just seems like a really odd move for Google to pull as they are not exactly short on ideas.
It will have 3GB of RAM. This is not impossible, but why would Google bother to waste another GB of possible space going from 2GB to 3GB? Even if you run multiple apps at once there is little need for 3GB. Plus, this is supposed to be more of a budget model, so why throw away a GB?

Probably not true

The camera is going to be a 13-mega pixel, 18-mega pixel or 20-mega pixel. People really cannot make up their minds online, though all are in agreement that it is going to have a bigger mega pixel rating than the previous Nexus.
The next Android iteration will be the lion bar or lollipop and the Google Nexus 6 will feature it as iteration number 4.5 or 5.0. This sort of speculation is rife and there is no saying how it will all work out. Nobody can be sure what Android is going to feature or if a 4.5 is due any time soon. The 4.4 was such a small update that it doesn't seem as if there is very far to go with it at the moment.

The Google Nexus 6 will have the Smart-watch system. If you do not know what the Smart-watch connectivity/pairing is all about then do not worry because it will not be part of the Google Nexus 6 despite the leaks. It is possible that you will be able to pair your Google Nexus 6 with your Smart-watch as a patch later on (if you update your Google Nexus 6) but there is little chance of this sort of thing being a factory installed standard.
